I know college is very hard from assignments to just trying to find free time, I am in my second year of college and there are something that I have learned very quickly in these last two years, so I'm going to share my knowledge and give all of you "5 Tips to Surviving College"
1. Staying Organized: If you don't have a plan on staying organized then you will drive yourself completely insane and become very stressed out. Buy yourself a notebook or even use the notes, calendar or reminder apps on your phone! I am a person who literally writes everything down from assignments that need to be completed, what I need to get done everyday, and different business plans and ideas I come up with. Having a journal is my best form of organization, there's no better feeling than crossing things off of your To-do list with ease, you don't want to fill your already busy life up with clutter.
2. Save your money and bargain when you can: In college you learn a very valuable lesson which is the fact that you are now a broke college student and every penny counts. You have to cut back on a lot of things or find cheaper ways to do them because now you're on your own and sometimes you won't always have lots to eat and in college $5 can go a long way and last a long time if you want it to, and getting a job if you have the time will not hurt you at all. SAVE SAVE SAVE even if that means missing a party or 2 or cooking instead of eating out. Me being a person who loves to shop I had to learn to cut back.
3. Don't procrastinate: Even though we all fall to procrastination you have to find ways to do it less because in college you get so many papers, projects, and assignments that may all end up being due the same week and if you procrastinate on doing them you will be pulling all nighters or getting very minimal sleep, trust me it's happen to me a few times! If you have to say no to a party and stay in to do homework then I suggest you do that because they'll be another party the next weekend and the weekend after that you aren't missing anything at all!
4. Get involved: In college it is so important to get involved around campus whether that's joining different organizations, meeting new people or networking and seeking out new business ventures. College is the time in your life when you make the most memories and set the foundation for the rest of your life. Don't stay closed off in your dorm, get out and meet people, college is the place where you just might meet your life long friends. Networking and taking opportunities is very important while in college because you don't want to get to your senior year and not have a plan or a job lined up for when you graduate.
5. Make sure you make "me" time for yourself: In college it's hard to find time to yourself or time to relax especially if you are working and going to school or are involved in different organizations, but time to yourself is vital or you will lose who you are. "Me" time can include taking a walk alone or going somewhere, staying in the bed and reading a book or magazine, polishing your nails or even watching a movie but you need to find something to put your mind at ease and relax.
I hope these tips were helpful and are able to keep your life going a little bit more smoothly, xo.
