More often than not many people are spending a lot of their time on their phones and scrolling social media, now I won’t sit here and say that I don’t spend time on my phone and I don’t enjoy being on social media, but also going out and experiencing things are so vital to me and they should be to you too. There’s nothing like going to experience things for yourself, experiencing things first hand opens your eyes to the possibilities, it makes you want more, it makes you more driven, it refines your taste, it elevates you from the inside out, believe it or not. Someone can sit and tell you or show you their experiences all day but that wont ever compare to you going out, seeing and doing yourself. Use your money to not only buy things but to build and create experiences. We have free will and it can be just as simple as finding out about a place, looking it up on maps and going. Experiencing things doesn’t have to always be a grand gesture, it’s also in the small things and can be free in so many ways.
Go places and take picture while you’re there, collect souvenirs and memorabilia, meet people or even vibe out with yourself. It’s important for you to feel the sun on your skin, to look at the sky and see how blue it is, to see what’s new in that museum you love, to talk to that older woman in the grocery store, to try that new pastry at your favorite coffee shop. Do all of the things, use your time wisely, create one of a kind experiences for yourself. Don’t only do the popular things or the things that are going “viral”, figure out what you like. You find yourself by getting out and experiencing things.
You don’t always have to travel to new places to experience things, but that helps. You can also explore different parts of your city that you haven’t seen. It’s even beneficial to experience fictional experiences, so dive into that book. Stop trying to make everything look a certain way or being so scared that you never do anything. Just start moving, one step at a time, one foot in front of the other. The only person placing limits on your life is you, just take a look around.
Stop waiting for a specific time, a certain amount of money, a specific group of friends or even the “right” city, bloom where you’re planted and stop stunting your growth. Experiencing things for yourself is beyond the aesthetics, it’s about cultivating who you are in different stages in your life, it’s about marking moments in time. Life is about the still moments, making those spur of the moment plans, hanging with loved ones, taking yourself places you’ve always wanted to see and doing things you can’t stop thinking about.
You ever wonder why some people seem so free or just so effortlessly cool? It’s because they allow themselves to experience life first hand, without limits. You don’t want to look back on your life and be filled with regrets because of the things you wish you would’ve done. It’s never too late and you’re not out of time, but you’re wasting it by continuously prolonging your plans. Do it now, do it scared, do it alone, just do it. Elevate your life through experiences, it’ll help you to stop being stagnant. Life is a luxury, start living it.
