Sometimes You Have to go Out with the New and In with the Old

As a creative person no matter what specific type, you are always thinking of new things and sometimes there are many things that can play a part in having an artistic block, whether that is too much television or social media, lack of inspiration, lack of drive, burnout and so much more. I know for me personally I am all about originality and everything I create is true to me, so everything I create I have thought up from scratch and with that being my creative route I always need new and different things to be inspired by.

Since I am in fashion as a stylist and creative director along with other things like my blog and youtube channel and just as who I am I think out of the box and outside of what’s trendy and popular so to stay interested and inspired I look for inspiration in other mediums like film, art, music and especially things from different eras. I feel like most of the time nothing current inspires me so I have to go back and reflect on old documentaries, older art, older movies and most importantly older magazines, these past works of art allow me to find something that sparks an idea into my head that I can start creating a new project with.

As a person in any industry where you use a lot of brain power to make something new frequently you have to allow your mind to have time to refresh and reset, you have to surround yourself with new things, venture out to new places or anything that allows you to stay grounded in creating things true to what you love. As well as picking up new hobbies or enjoy doing different forms of art like drawing or painting to get those creative juices flowing. As an artist give yourself time and take good care of yourself and the good ideas will come with execution to follow. Lastly always remember it’s not about the quantity of projects you create but the quality.
