As we have noticed the past couple of days, the weather is finally starting to break and it's actually beginning to feel like spring after about a month of still feel like it was winter although it was not.
I know many people are super excited to pull out their spring and summer clothes, but I'm still being very cautious about how much skin I let show, because the weather can change in the drop of a dime as we all know. So since I'm trying to keep it safe for these first few moments of spring I'm sticking with light and airy pieces. Such as jackets, bodysuits, light blazers, jeans, skirts etc.
I'm pretty sure everyone in fashion has heard the saying "It's not what you wear, but how you wear it." well being cautious of weather change and this outfit falls right into that. I haven't brought out the shorts and sleeveless tops but I've brought out the colors, especially with this jacket. Spring is all about bright colors like yellow, pink, coral, blue, green, pastels, orange etc. so if you don't want to bare it all just yet, bring out the colors and use statement pieces like this coral blazer I wore so you can look like spring, but still be prepared for Mother Nature to change her mind.

I am an extreme book lover and I've always felt that it was always important to continue learning and not just associate gaining knowledge strictly to going to school. I am a lover of podcasts and magazines but my ultimate favorite is reading a physical book. Books give you an insight on other peoples perspectives and experiences as well as podcasts do.
I've read so many books but my favorite types of books are self-help, business, motivational, and anything dealing with black history and culture. I'm always searching for new books and taking suggestions from people.
Not only do I love books to read them, but they make for great decor. I have books all around my bedroom, decorated on desks, bookshelves etc. I suggest for everyone to at least try to read one book every few months, and as you're building your collection you can decorate with them as well to give your space character.

In Chicago as well as many other places, it's still been extremely cold, although it's supposed to be spring it's still winter weather, but Mother Nature is slowly getting the clue that we are over winter and snow COMPLETELY.
I've been trying different things to make sure I'm still warm with the outfits I wear, weather it be skirts, flared denim and dresses. In the transition between months when the old season just doesn't want to let up ADD-ONS are very important. Add-ons like tights, cute boots, booties, jackets etc. are always important to have in you wardrobe. For this outfit since the pants had a shorter hem i decided to add a cute pair of brown booties (browns look great with denim!), I also added on a cute shaggy jacket to tie in the whole look and I loved it!

Shirt: Thrifted// Pants: Thrifted// Shoes: Converse// Jacket: Rainbow
I took business casual VERY casual with this look, it's like a mix of business casual with happy hour or a night with the girls after work. I chose to tie up this regular button up stripped blouse and put it off the shoulder, and paired it with a cute pair of dressy slacks. To top this outfit off I added my signature red lip, my favorite white converse and this cute distressed denim jacket which I added a brooch to.
You're probably wondering how I got this outfit idea with all of these completely different pieces, but as you all should know by now that I wear everything in my closet many ways. I am an advocate for having fun with your wardrobe and doing what makes you comfortable, and I LOVED this look.

Shirt: Ivy Park// Pants: Topshop// Earrings: H&M// Shoes: Forever 21//
I love to mix dressy and casual, because there's no fun in fashion if you can't be comfortable while doing it. I took this oversized black Ivy Park sweatshirt with white lace detailing, that is apart of a two-piece short set and created into a whole new look.
This sweatshirt is perfect to pair with many other looks, because it's solid with cute detailing, I also love the scuba diving loose material. I chose to dress up the sweatshirt with a pair of black jeans with a flared hem. I kept it simple with accessories by just adding a sparkly pointed toe shore, tassel earrings and of course my signature red lip. Outfits like these are perfect for everything from brunches to a night out.

I love menswear and the fact that some brands are starting to create some women's clothing pieces inspired by mens clothing structures. I love the broad shouldered silhouettes and the baggy but nicely fitted silhouettes for men and I also think they are perfect for women.
When thrifting I came across this amazing men's blazer for only $4, I love the very broad shoulders and the way it fits me. I can do so much with this blazer, like play around with having it worn off the shoulder, worn as a dress with thigh high boots or as an oversized blazer like I did here. I decided to wear tighter silhouettes under the blazer like the bodysuit and jeans so that the blazer could standout, and I wore the tan lace-up boots to bring out the tan lines in the blazer. Sometimes you need just a few great pieces to make an outfit pop, and mine were the blazer and booties and I added the red lip because you can never go wrong with a red lip.

Shirt: Boohoo// Jeans: Love Culture// Boots: Boohoo//
As you all know I love a good statement piece, and this shirt is amazing. I have worn this shirt before but styled differently. This time I decided to wear it tucked in with high waist jeans and cute booties. This shirt is very versatile with what can be done with it, it's very dressy, but can be dressed more casual as well.
I love the detailing on this shirt, especially the amazing ruffles lining the shoulders and the attached black corset belt that has a very good fit. Not only was this shirt very cute and very well fitted, but it was also a very good price which is what I always love about something and is a very big factor when I'm determining what I want to buy when shopping.
I love the way this outfit came together especially the checked shirt with the amazing details and a great red lip.

Coat: Zara// Purse: Zara// Shirt: Forever 21// Pants: Akira (Thrifted)// Shoes: Forever 21//
So honey let's just get right to it. Do you see this coat???? As soon as I saw it I just knew I couldn't pass it up. You wouldn't guess how much I paid for this coat compared to the original price, I caught it on sale for $29.90 and it was originally $119.00, like what? When I saw the price tag I was stunned, but I wasn't going to ask any questions.
This is half leather and half faux fur, which was perfect for me because those are two of my favorite things and yellow made the coat pop even more. I will mostly wear this coat as a part of my outfit so you will probably catch me with a monochromatic look underneath and a cute lip like I did here, just so the coat can do all of the talking. Also you see this cute little purse? Well I also caught it on sale at Zara for $7.99 and it was originally $39.90, it went perfect with the coat and I absolutely love everything about it and it's great quality. I loved this whole look especially the key statement pieces and details that made it all come together.

As I always say, you can do so much with so little. You can have one concept of an outfit and do so many things with it, and my favorite example of that is "Denim on Denim". There's not just one way to wear denim on denim, or one particular piece to wear, but it's a perfect way to show your style. With this look I just did a denim oversized shirt tucked in and boyfriend jeans, but the most important part of this outfit, is the EARRINGS.
I used to not be into dangling earrings, it was always either a hoop or stud for me. But now I love a good statement earring, it shows personality and can be just the right piece of jewelry for an amazing look. A simple or monochromatic look is the best time to do a statement earring and a good way to add a pop of color.
