Fenty Skin Review!!!

So I know I should’ve been given y’all this review but I wanted to use the products for awhile before I gave a review just so I could give you an honest opinion about the products and how I liked them. I signed up for the early access so I was able to shop on July 29th instead of on the 31st during the public release and after some technical difficulties with the website due to so much traffic I got my products! I bought the cleanser and the fat water toner which came out to $56 (very affordable) and they also had a moisturizer with SPF in it that I didn’t get and I have regretted it since I placed my order lol.

You could’ve purchased each product separate or gotten all three for $75 instead of $88 if you bought them all separate. Rihanna always brings the girls luxury products to use at an affordable price and we love her for that. I believe on the public release the items did sell out but they have had a few restocks since. I received my order in a good amount of time without issues and of course the packaging was great.

But aside from pricing and packaging let’s get into the real tea about if the products are actually good. I first want to say that the cleanser and toner (and I’m pretty sure the moisturizer too) are perfect for someone that wants a good cleanser and toner that gets to the point, I can’t tell you if this product will get rid of all of your acne quickly or anything because I don’t get much acne or have sensitive skin but I will say if you’re someone looking for something to use on a day to day basis just to make sure your face is clean Fenty Skin will do that for you.

So on my initial use of the products my face was very soft and clean after, the products do have a slight fragrance that kind of caught me off guard because usually the skin products that are good for your skin don’t have much fragrance or if they do its slight but after using I could tell this was a good product and the fragrance wasn’t bad so that’s great. The product is very lightweight but a little definitely goes a long way so you don’t need a lot. I have used these two products for about a week and a half and I will definitely keep using and add it to my collection.

If you’re like me and don’t want to have to use a million products every time you wash your face then Fenty Skin may be something you want to look into, also everyone who has reviewed it hasn’t had anything bad to say and it has sold out a few times so that should tell you something.

So if you’re like me and work from home or you love just chilling and watching movies here’s a list of things on Netflix that you can watch. I love Black sitcoms, Black movies from the late 90s and early 2000s, and Black people in general so I’m so happy that over the past couple of years Strong Black Lead (if you aren’t following them on Instagram you should be!) has been doing the groundwork that needs to be done to bring Black Classic Movies, sitcoms and shows to Netflix. If you don’t know most recently they got The Game, Moesha, and Sister Sister on Netflix which is major and shows that we all loved. Can’t wait to see what they get on Netflix next, make sure you’re following them on Instagram because they have some amazing content from interviews with actors to BTS.

Here’s some Movies and Series that you can sit and enjoy on Netflix:

  1. Double Platinum

  2. The Brothers

  3. Players Club '

  4. Soul Plane

  5. Bad Boys I & II

  6. National Security

  7. She’s Gotta Have It

  8. #blackAF

  9. Sextuplets

  10. Sleepless

  11. A Fall From Grace

  12. This Christmas

  13. For Colored Girls

  14. Get on the Bus

  15. Self Made

You can also check the ‘Strong Black Lead’ Category on Netflix for more options. Grab a snack and turn on Netflix and chill because everyone deserves a break.

Why I Love Backless Shirts

Top: Pretty Little Thing// Jeans: Re/Done//

Top: Pretty Little Thing// Jeans: Re/Done//

I’ve fallen in love with backless tops or tops that show a little back action especially when you like your back and the curves of it. A backless top adds that extra oomph that you need, its like a subtle sexiness and something that isn’t expected when someone is looking from the front.

A backless top is also perfect for the summer and so versatile, you can find some that are really cute in both short and long sleeve in a variety of price ranges. I personally love a good top and that’s why I always end up with so many tops and no bottoms to wear them with.

This top is very dressy with the exaggerated shoulders and high neck, but it can be dressed down for a happy hour, brunch or date night or dressed up if you are really popping out somewhere. This may not be a top that everyone feels like they can dress down but its definitely possible.

With this look I paired the top with my absolute favorite jeans that are are by Re/done that I got from I believe L Train Vintage in New York, they have more of a baggy but still fitted style, I didn’t go anywhere in this look (because its still a pandemic) but when I do wear it out I would probably style it like this again or with some cute shorts since it is summer time (this shirt is not for a 90 degree day remember that). This piece is from Pretty Little Thing so it was on the more affordable side and they ALWAYS have a sale happening, but being patient and looking through sites like Pretty Little Thing is how you can find the more luxury looking pieces but at a more affordable price so you can make them pieces hit.

I love me a good backless top and can’t wait to get more and style them different ways, make sure you grab you some too I promise you won’t regret it.

Black Owned Home Goods

Candles in the gold cases by LIT Brooklyn, Detergent by BKLYN Bar Soap, and Rose Quartz candle by Lulu Holistics

Candles in the gold cases by LIT Brooklyn, Detergent by BKLYN Bar Soap, and Rose Quartz candle by Lulu Holistics

So as you all should know about me by now I support everything Black and in the words of Issa Rae I’m rooting for everybody Black and Black owned brands and when I hear about a new business I definitely check it out. For the past month or two there’s been a surge in the support for Black owned businesses especially from Black people and it’s amazing to see from directories of all different types of businesses being created, to forums for Black creatives in different industries being created by Black people, to Black people promoting and buying from other Black people’s businesses. There is so much money and support circling back into the Black communities right now and more people learning about the importance of supporting Black owned businesses and I’m so here for it.

I love when people share Black-owned businesses that they love or businesses that they have heard about and are promoting it because it gives me the chance to be exposed to a new business and possibly some bomb a*s products and I may become a potential customer and a repeated customer if its good. This is a reason why it is important for businesses to be tagged or promoted if you like it, you don’t know how many new or potential clients you could give that business.

First off let me start by saying I’ve loved LIT BKLYN for a few years now from the story of the owner and how the business started to the quality of the product and the service. These candles (in the gold canisters) are amazing, they smell so good and are hand poured and packaged by the creator as many products from Black owned businesses are. The packaging is one thing that attracted me to this brand because with the gold it sticks out and whenever you see it you don’t have to question who created it but if you haven’t heard about it it definitely grabs your attention and makes you wonder what it is. The candles come in this size which is the travel size and full size options, I have three of the LIT Brooklyn candles and badly need to re-up because every time I get some they only last me like two weeks because I’m always burning them (they just smell that good), I have MUSE, and two of the BLUSH scented candles. I would highly recommend LIT BKLYN to anyone , but if you want to purchase you gotta be quick on your feet and your fingers because she sells out in like a minute! Click here to head to the website.

Secondly is the “Dirty Laundry” detergent in the scent Bergamot & White Thyme (smells SO good). So all my life I’ve been using the regular popular detergent like Gain and the others because that’s just what I grew up on and never really thought too much on venturing out, but I was on Instagram one day and came across either an ad or someone promoting BKLYN Bar soap and went to the website because I love seeing new Black owned businesses especially those that create natural body care or home care products and I already use natural soap and would love to purchase from a Black owned business something I already use anyway if I see something I like. On my first and only order thus far I purchased three bar soaps in different natural scents (all natural ingredients in everything) and the detergent and I will say that I was honestly satisfied and one of the soaps is definitely going to be a staple in my home. The detergent smells really good and has a clean natural scent with minimal to no additional or harmful chemicals, I could definitely tell the difference in how my clothes looked and felt compared to how they are when I wash clothes with the Gain I use (the results were even better). If you want to check out there products or website click here.

Lastly is the Rose Quartz candle that I ordered from Lulu Holistics which I found because someone I follow was promoting their body butter saying how much they liked it so I headed to the website and purchased the candle and an exfoliating scrub that literally smells like Black joy and Black people. I truly love both products that I ordered and will definitely be ordering again. The candle is made with real rose petals in it and a small rose quarts on top and the exfoliating scrub literally works wonders and makes your skin feel so good after using and its so good to use before shaving. I usually make my own scrubs but I will definitely be buying more from Lulu’s Holistics and checking out their other products. To check out their website click here would definitely recommend and she gives you a coupon code in your package to use on your next order.

All three of these brand’s products are amazing and I would definitely recommend you purchasing some things for your home as well. Take a little extra time to purchase the things you use from a Black owned business. Also when you purchase from a Black-owned business post about it and tell others so they can support as well or be introduced to something new especially if you like the product you receive or had a good experience with the business.

Corset: Pretty Little Things// Sweatpants: Unknown// Shoes: Nike// Glasses: Forever 21

It’s recently started officially feeling like summer and being warm consistently because just a couple weeks or a month ago it was still feeling cooler and in the 60s and 70s If we were lucky so you couldn’t really pull out the summer clothes just yet. And even now with it being consistently hot we don’t know if we’re going to get any more cooler days and of course we know that at night it’s always cooler.

I like to have fun with my wardrobe and one day I just had a vision of a corset, sweats and gym shoes and turned it into this look. I love trying on things to see if I like it or to see if they look the same as I imagined, that’s the fun of style and that’s why our style continues to evolve as we get older.

I did like this look and it is something that I would probably redo again for the days that aren’t scorching hot. But I encourage everyone to take time to still play dress up and put looks together, sometimes they come out cute and sometimes you have to go back to the drawing board but you should be having fun either way.

Top & Shorts: Thrifted// Boots: Pretty Little Things

I know me personally I’m a fan of wearing clothes from other seasons in the summer and I love a cute boots summer look. You can honestly ass some cute ass boots in the white color to some shorts or a dress to make it perfect for summer. Looks like these are perfect for a night out and it may be a little cooler, or brunch where you don’t want to be too dressed up but you still want to be cute.

When I came across these boots on pretty Little Things I knew I had to grab them, I love a good quality reptile textured shoe or piece like snakeskin or croc and these were the perfect color! This camel/orange like color is perfect for the summer but also something that you can transfer to the Fall. I can see myself now coming up with so many different looks to wear with these boots for the days that it’s not absolutely too hot to have on boots even with shorts.

Don’t run from trying new things like boots in the summer, it can come

Out very cute and you’ll impress yourself.
