Kimono: Zara// Short: Forever 21// Pants: Love Culture// Shoes: Akira//
Recently Zara had their sale that happens twice a year and I went in and grabbed just a few things, and this kimono was one of them. Since I purchased it I've been trying to figure out if it is a dress or kimono, but me being me, I'm going to just wear it as both.
I grabbed this kimono for only $12.99 and the original price was $49.99, I love a good deal so I absolutely couldn't pass it up. With statement pieces you usually want to keep your actual outfit ,or the canvas, fairly simple so the attention can be directed to the statement piece. For my outfit I just pulled out colors from the kimono and wore this zipped crop top which is so cute and versatile and a pair of olive green pants, along with one of my favorite pairs. I didn't really wear accessories, because I wasn't really going anywhere, but if I was going out I would have probably added one or two accessories and a cute lipstick.
It's best to get clothing that is versatile and can be worn many ways or more than once. You want to get your money's worth so why not invest in a great closet.
When being in the fashion industry sometimes you come to a point where to create new and fresh ideas and projects, you just need some inspiration from different places. With needing more inspiration you may also want to seek from sources outside of fashion so that your work can be as creative as possible.
Along with finding inspiration sometimes you have to go back to your roots to get back in touch with why you enjoy something and what made you fall in love with it to begin with. Since I've been back home for winter break I have gone through my magazine collection, that consists of magazines I have collected over the years (mainly Vogue) so that I can gain inspiration for upcoming projects and get more in touch with my I became passionate for fashion to begin with.
Some times you need to get back to your roots and get back in touch with what made you fall in love with something to begin with, and there's nothing wrong with that. No matter how long you have done something you will never know too much, and you will always be able to learn something new.
Have you ever wanted to achieve a certain look but didn't feel like you had the right clothes in your closet? Well you probably do have them you just have to be creative with what you have! I have used so many pieces of clothing for something other than what it was, for instance I've used dresses and skirts as shirts and in this picture I used a fringe skirt as a belt, I loved the look of a fringe belt, but I didn't have one nor did I feel like buying one, but I had this skirt from a few years ago that was now too short so I got the bright idea to use it as a belt and the outfit came off as I pictured, I paired the fringe skirt (or should I say belt lol) with the new Young $tylish Lifestyle "Boss Lady Ritual" t-shirt(which will be ready to order soon), Forever 21 black jeans , and black and white heels from Sheikh shoes. I loved this look and will be doing it again. When you want to create new looks but you either don't want to spend the money or don't have the money to spend then use the resources you already have and just get creative with your clothes and you can make all new looks, nobody has to know the shirt you're wearing is actually a dress or the dress you're wearing is just a over-sized shirt. Have fun with your clothes and get creative without spending money but make sure you don't look crazy!
