Dusters + Cropped Denim

Duster: TopShop// Jeans: TopShop// Purse: Aldo// Shoes: Just Fab//

The summer has started off with some very hot and sunny days and now it's getting to the point of me not knowing what to wear because it's just too hot for everything. The summer is the time to get creative with your style, because you want to remain cool and comfortable in the hot sun during all of your summer activities and events.

I saw both this duster and these pants in the TopShop section of Nordstrom and absolutely fell in love with both pieces. This past weekend I attended an event and it just so happen to be very hot, 90 degrees or hotter. To keep cool I chose to wear the duster because of how it flowed and the ruffle details around the shoulder. I paired these tie-up cropped jeans with the duster because I loved the tied front and panel details, when I first spotted these pants I immediately fell in love and knew I had to have them. To keep cool I just paired a white tank top underneath the duster, and wore a pair of studded light pink heels because they went with the "girly chic" look I was going for. I absolutely loved how girly and cute this look come out, and it was perfect for the hot weather.

On the Run: Ivy Park

Top: Ivy Park// Shorts: Ivy Park// Purse: Aldo//

Since Ivy Park was released I hadn't been able to snag anything, but during the Nordstrom half year sale I was able to grab this whole IVY Park outfit, I knew that I could make this into an amazing outfit. I love the thought of turning leisure wear into actual outfits, especially with this outfit because it doesn't look like actual athletic wear.

IVY Park is great because not only is it great for working out but it's very fashionable and allows you to dress it up and wear it on a girls day out, like I did. Since the shorts came up kind of high I cut a pair of leggings and wore them under.  With this look I played on the black and white colors with the perfect shoes (flats and heels for the long day I had). Along with wearing a red lip (because red lipstick is everything) I also wore a red clutch to tie both of those together. This look came out so perfect and I'm so glad I was able to get this outfit when I did.

Summer Dresses + Denim Jackets

June 2, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

Dress: Nordstrom// Jacket: Rainbow// Shoes: Sam Edelman// Purse: Nordstrom// Sunglasses: Avenue//

In the Summer when it's really hot, most of us tend to not want to wear too much or wear anything that may make us hot. It's best to stick with light and flowy fabrics for the summertime so you can be comfortable in all activities you are doing.

When I saw this slip dress at Nordstrom I knew I had to get it, it is perfect for the Summer and it is a great base piece because you can pair anything with it. On this particular day it was pretty warm but still a little cool, so I chose to pair this dress with a denim jacket that scrunched at the sleeves and these nude heels that I love. In the summer it's always great to have a great purse and a great pair of sunglasses to accessorize your outfits with, which I why I chose to wear this tan purse and some great glasses to keep that sun away.

Olive Green Monochromatic MIx

May 30, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

Shirt: Pitaya// Pants: Forever 21// Shoes: Akira//

I love when I'm able to take oversized shirts and style them in any way I want, which is exactly what I did with this shirt. I took this oversized shirt and made it off the shoulder and tied it in the center, to give it a unique look.

Another thing I loved about this outfit is that it is monochromatic, I love a good monochromatic look. because it can go from something simple to something so chic, very quickly. To add some flair I unzipped the zipper at the bottom of my pants and pulled them over my boots. I love taking a relaxed look to something chic by adding cute accessories and cute shoes. Monochromatic looks are doing more with less, with one statement color.

5 key tips on staying organized

May 22, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

Staying organized can sometimes be very hard, especially when your schedule is really hectic, but having a foundation of ways to keep everything in control always works. Staying organized is vital for me, especially with my busy schedule, so I can share five tips for staying organized that always work for me.

1. Writing everything down

Writing things down whether it's goals you want to accomplish, things you need to do, thoughts your are having or goals you have set is always good. Writing things done make them a reality to you, which causes you to think about them until they are done. I always keep a planner and a journal in my purse in case something comes to my mind that I need to write down.

2. Making a to-do list

Starting your day by making a to-do list always works for me. I make my to-do list with things I need and want to get done for the day, so that I stay productive and get things done in a timely manner. It helps to not over fill your to-do list so it seems more easy to get done, try maybe doing 2 big tasks per day and 2-3 small ones or whatever works best for you and your schedule. Nothing feels better than checking off everything on your to-do list. Sometimes also writing down time frames for when you want to get things done is very helpful. To-do lists are my number one necessity to stay organized and productive.

3. Keeping your mind clear

If your mind is not clear and you are not taking care of yourself first then there is no way you will be organized. if your mind is going crazy then you will be too. So make sure you start your productive days and hopefully all days off with a clear mind, yes being productive can create stress, but keeping everything organized can minimize that.

4. Having down time

The really major key to staying organized is making sure that you have one or two days out of the week where you are work free and have time to do some self-care and things that you enjoy, that will take your mind off of your hectic schedule. Sometimes we get so busy with what we have going on, that we forget to just stop and relax, which causes use to get stressed and overwhelmed. Relaxation is key.

5. Keeping a nice work space

Keeping a space where you can sit and just get done what you need to get done really helps me, I feel that I work more efficiently when I am up sitting at my desk rather than laying in bed doing work. A nice work space also helps with completing all things on my to-do list, it puts me in a very productive head space.

I hope these tips can help you become more organize which will generate more productive days

5 Tips and tricks for a successful shopping trip

May 1, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

I hear quite often that people hate shopping, and with me loving to shop I just don't see how that's possible. I love shopping in store rather than online because it's a better experience, and I feel that you enjoy your purchases more. But for many people who hate shopping in store and need some tips, I'm here to give you five easy tips. Shopping is all about strategy, so I'm here to teach you!

Tip #1: What do you want to buy

When going shopping you need to have an idea of at least what you want to buy and the trip will be much easier. It's okay if you pick up a few extra things you didn't plan to buy, but at least you went into the store with an idea of what you were looking for. If you are a shopper who likes to get in and get out maybe look on the store's website first and then go into the store to specifically look for those things, or even better ask a sales associate to point you in the direction of those items.

Tip #2: Budget

The best way to have a successful shopping trip and not be surprised or distraught after is to plan how much you want to spend before you go into the store. By setting a budget it helps to decide which things you want to purchase more than others. As long as you keep a particular budget in your head and you only pick up things within that budget, you will get to the register and either be under your budget or right at it. The key is to be mindful when you shop and not just impulse shop.

Tip #3: Make sure you really like what you are buying

When shopping it's easy to see something and say "ooooo I want that" but not actually really want it. When shopping make sure you LOVE the items you are buying, because you are spending your money and you want to make sure it's worth it. You never want to buy something that you can only wear once or don't know where you'll wear it to but you think it's cute, if it can't be a staple in your closet, PUT IT BACK! Also if you are looking at something that's over $100 and you're not sure about it, put it back, go home and sleep on it and if you're still thinking about it the next day go back and buy it or purchase it online.

Tip #4: Be comfortable

If you are going out shopping make sure you are comfortable so that you can actually enjoy your shopping trip and find what you want. Don't take anyone with you that isn't going to better your experience because that can change your whole mood (and you want to be in a good mood while shopping right?!). You want to wear comfortable clothes and shoes just in case you want to try things on or need to go in multiple stores.

Another part of being comfortable is TAKING YOUR TIME, there's so many times that I hear people say they don't like shopping in Forever 21 or can never find anything, but that's because they don't actually take the time to look through the racks. If you're just glancing through the racks and not actually taking the time to look then of course you won't find anything. That's why I love stores like Forever 21 because I take the time to look which helps me to always find things that others missed.

Tip #5: Returns and miscellaneous tips

If you are like me and don't like to try things on at stores, purchase them and keep your receipts, and when you get home try them on and if they don't fit take them back. You can't get mad at the cashier if you try to bring them back without the receipt and you knew that was the policy.

One of my biggest tips to all shoppers is to check out the sale section first! I love the sale section because there are always hidden jewels there that people didn't think to look for and they're at a discounted price. In my opinion no matter how much money you have, you can never  be too rich to enjoy a good sale and if you think you are then you're missing out big time!

Well I hope this post is able to help you in you're next shopping trip and hopefully changed you're mind about shopping in-store because I personally love it!

Striped pants + Fur Vests

April 17, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

Top: Forever 21// Vest: Forever 21// Pants: Love Culture// Shoes: Akira//

Don't you just love stripes?! Well I know I do! There's just something about fun clothing that has patterns, textures etc. I've had these pants for awhile and sometimes I pull these tan and black striped pants out of my closet and style them different ways.

I chose to stick with the colors of the pants for my entire outfit, so that the pants would be the statement. I paired them with an off-the-shoulder black bodysuit and a cream colored faux fur vest, that was ironically the same color that was in my pants. I also decided to accessorize with a simple burgundy chocker so not only my pants were an attraction, but my shoulders were too due to the off the shoulder top. This is a great every day fashion savvy look, casual yet still chic.

Matching Sets + Patterned Tights

April 10, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

Top/Skirt: Target// Tights: Betsy Johnson// Boots: Calvin Klein//

There's something that I love about a matching 2-piece set and mixing patterns, so why not do them both at the same time. I found that the way to mix different patterns without looking all over the place is by sticking with the same colors or colors that match well. Here I stuck with the colors black and white in both of my patterns and that just helped the look flow as one.

This day is a rare moment that you see me in flat shoes, but I love a good boot and with the statement the outfit itself makes, I didn't have to go all out with the shoes. I loved the comfortableness of this look more than anything, it's nothing like being comfortable and cute!

Star Wars Tees + Cargos

April 4, 2017 ShaKayla Eaddy

Jacket: Forever 21// Shirt: Thrifted fromVillage Discount Outlet// Pants: Forever 21// Shoes: Akira

I feel that the best outfits are the ones that are just thrown together or you're dressing up a chill outfit. I found this cool Star Wars t-shirt while thrifting that says "Who's your daddy" and I thought it would be cool to distress it and dress it up although it is a t-shirt. This look is so chic and gives me so many street style vibes.

I paired these cargos I got a while back with the t-shirt and added the heels and jacket to make it a bit more dressed up. The fun thing about fashion is that you can do whatever you want with it and put together all different types of things.
